SEE JANE RUN – a filmmaker’s blog

I decided to start a video blog on TikTok (seejanerunfilm) to chronicle my journey with the film, but Jane has urged me to start a written one too. So here we are.

Yesterday I started a new approach to writing and synthesizing the footage we have already collected, and I really like it. I have transcripts of all of the videos, including speeches Jane has given, Zoom calls we have done with Jane and others about the film, and the two and a half days of footage we shot in Portland. I haven’t added it up but it’s probably close to 30 hours of content. I’m going through each transcript, highlighting bites that feel important/interesting/poignant/relevant, and then cutting/pasting those into other documents – one is a “master” that has ALL of these bites, and the others are buckets like “art” “Indo” “equity” “biography.” From there, I’ll be able to piece sections together and, whether they end up intact in the final version or sprinkled through, I’ll be working with more manageable chunks.

I’m also tasked right now to create a trailer because Bruce is hoping to have that ready to show potential partners at a film festival he is attending in November. I don’t know that I have the time to get a trailer done too… we’ll see. I’m in 8-hour rehearsals daily plus my commitments to my family, The Bridge Initiative, and AGE, so my time is limited. But one foot in front of the other, one day at a time. This project has always been intended to spread joy not cause stress.
